Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro – The Oriental Mindoro Industrial Peace Advocates (ORMIPA) recently conducted their first outreach program in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro. “Isang karangalan sa amin ang maghatid ng payak na tulong sa ating kapatid na Mangyan”, said Ms. Renita A. Alda, President of ORMIPA. Collective efforts and support of the different companies who extended their help and gave contributions made this worthwhile community service realized.
Distribution of school supplies was initially set on September 12, 2017, but due to bad weather condition it was re-scheduled on September 25, 2017 at Dangkalan Elementary School in Brgy. San Roque, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro. More or less 170 students from grades 1 to 6 benefited from the project. Aside from pencils, school supplies like notebooks, erasers, sharpeners, coloring materials, paper pads, face towels and water tumblers were also given away.
NCMB Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual took time to join the said activity together with Director Lourdes P. Estioco, Ms. Julia P. Peleo and the ORMIPA officers. In her message, she encouraged the children by saying, “Mag-aral kayong mabuti at patuloy na mangarap. Ang kahirapan ay hindi hadlang sa magandang edukasyon. Matutong magpasalamat dahil maraming paraan na ginagawa ang gobyerno para matulungan ang gaya ninyong mga bata.” She also acknowledged the efforts of the Branch and its LMC Association in Oriental Mindoro in spearheading the project.
Teachers, students and parents also thanked the group for choosing the school as their beneficiary. According to them, this project will spare parents from buying back to school supplies for their children.
This outreach program is a joint-undertaking of ORMIPA and the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch IVB. This program allows students to understand and appreciate the importance of education at a young age. ORMIPA is one of the branch’s partners in advocating industrial peace in the MIMAROPA region. – Julia P. Peleo
